COWGIRL
DREAMS |

I
sure would like to be a cowgirl.
I
was once you know; way out in Idaho.
I've
been dream'n bout it near all my life,
This
down home cowgirl dream. Just to be a cowgirl
would be as high as a mountain stream.
I
know exactly what you're think'n,
&
I know you’re wrong.
I
just want to be a simple cowgirl
No
urban cowgirls song.
Enjoying life & having fun,
This
is what I long. I don't want to be on the silver screen
or ride those rodeos, I don't mind listen'n to Roy & Gene
or doing dose-dos. I just want to be a simple cowgirl,
sweet & country eyed. I even picked a cowgirls name
‘ Tess Dandridge’ at your side. I want to watch the sun come up into the clear blue sky
and
watch the hawks a soar'n till you feel you can fly.
I'd
like to sit around a campfire,
Smelling coffee as it brews.
Swap'n
stories with the cowboys,
Til
the morn'n sheds it dew. I want to hear the lark sing'n
to start off my days, I want to hear spurs a jing'ln
as a cowboys gather his strays. I need a cowboys hand & strength
helping me along my way, I need his courage'n love around me
each & every day.
A
thousand sights, sounds & feelings have been wander'n through my mind. Like listening to a hidden voice
never to be defined.
But
the course of logic bound my life,
My life most over has been content,
Never a dull day have I spent.
But
sometimes in the deepest of the nights I dream the things I have done
& wonder to myself -
'Should
I have been a real live cowgirl?
This
thought comes swift but sweet. Had I gone 'n' been a cowgirl would my dreams have seemed any more complete? |
